Multiple infusions of these small, baked nuggets release a rich aroma of honeyed peaches and lightly toasted white bread from whole shoots. The liquor is smooth and sweet. Gently reminiscent of peaches and apricots baked in a light pastry crust, it leaves an aftertaste of oatmeal cookies and toasted bread.
Siren Song is named for the cicadas that created this distinctive tea. Every seven years, the cicadas come to Taiwan and feast on tea leaves. One year, they were particularly attracted to a beloved tea known as Oriental Beauty. By the time they finished their feast, the tea plants were heavily damaged. But the plants were resourceful, and slowly but surely repaired themselves. This repair forever changed the flavor of the tea, imparting delicious new elements - bread and peaches. The varietal was renamed. We call it Siren Song in honor of the cicadas, and it has become highly prized and sought after.
